Forwardis awarded Rail27 International multi-year contract by ScandFibre Logistics

Forwardis, freight forwarder of the Rail Logistics Europe group, has been entrusted a multi-year contract by ScandFibre Logistics (SFL) to operate Rail27 international across Germany, Italy, France, and the Benelux as of mid-December 2026. The Rail27 service represents 12,000 wagons per year connecting Sweden and 20+ terminals in continental Europe. ScandFibre Logistics exports goods by rail from Swedish paper mills and manages the backloading of wagons with industrial and consumer products.

The multi-year contract using rail transports in Rail27 demonstrates the Scandinavian forestry industry’s strong commitment to use environmental friendly transport modes. The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is substantially reduced vs. other transport options.

Forwardis’s rail solution, managed from Germany, includes comprehensive network design, end-to-end service, combination of system trains and single wagon loads and integration of traction providers. Railway partners are Green Cargo, Captrain Deutschland, BLS, Captrain Italia, Hexafret, Rheinhafen Krefeld and the ForwardNet network, Lineas, and Brohltalbahn.

Forwardis is committed to preparing Rail27, with the active support of Rail Logistics Europe. The goal is to deliver a safe, agile, reliable, fast and efficient solution for SFL and to drive modal shift in Europe
