Head of Team ForwardNet / Teamleiter Schienenlogistik (m/w/d)

FORWARDIS GmbH, a successful company within the SNCF Group specializing in international rail freight forwarding, is looking for a Team Leader Rail Logistics / Rail Freight (m/f/d) to lead our international single wagonload network, ForwardNet.

In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for the functional and disciplinary management of an international team while driving the strategic development of our European rail freight network. Permanent Full-Time Position

  • Location: Frankfurt am Main (near the Central Station)
  • Scope of responsibility: European customers and railway operators
  • Working hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ForwardNet team, both functionally and disciplinarily.
  • Drive the operational and commercial development of the international ForwardNet single wagonload network.
  • Support tenders, pricing, quotations, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers and business partners.
  • Coordinate network operations, capacity management, and service quality in close collaboration with Product Management and Operations.
  • Monitor KPIs and take responsibility for budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
  • Analyze market and infrastructure developments and implement appropriate strategic measures.
  • Optimize and digitalize existing processes, reporting systems, and planning tools.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification; alternatively, completed vocational training in railway operations, rail freight, rail logistics, or freight forwarding with a focus on rail transport, combined with relevant professional experience.
  • Solid knowledge of rail transport, transport planning, and logistics processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Initial leadership experience and a genuine interest in developing and motivating team members.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in tenders, quotations, and contract management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience working with KPIs, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with rail-specific planning and management systems is an advantage.
  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to perform confidently under pressure in an international environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English.
  • French language skills are desirable due to the international nature of the ForwardNet network.
