On Wednesday April 17, 2024, Philippe Golder, CEO of Forwardis GmbH, joined by Sven Le Gars, Head of the Chemicals, Consumer Goods & Steel cluster, and Adélaïde Simon de Bessac, Marketing and Communications Manager at Forwardis GmbH, took part in the 4th Sustainability Day organized by the DVZ media in Frankfurt.

The event kicked off with an essential discussion on plastic waste management and the role of companies in reducing their environmental impact. Experts such as Katharina Ley from KPMG Deutschland and Yvonne Bonventre from BLG LOGISTICS GROUP AG & Co. KG shared their thoughts on the challenges posed by the Supply Chain Responsibility Act (CSRD) and the implications for logistics companies such as Forwardis.

Discussions then focused on the accurate measurement of CO2 emissions in logistics, with presentations by Kathrin Schuller of the Smart Freight Centre and Lutz Fricke of MOSOLF SE & Co. KG. Concrete examples were shared, highlighting the challenges and learnings involved in establishing carbon footprints.

A highlight of the day was the exploration of synergies between sustainability and digitalization, led by speakers such as Stephanie Hackenholt from Lufthansa Industry Solutions. This session highlighted the growing importance of technology in achieving sustainability goals. The event also offered in-depth dives into specific topics, including the transition to more environmentally-friendly transport on the road and in the air logistics sector. Discussions also focused on initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions in logistics, with presentations from thought leaders such as Moritz Tölke of Sovereign Speed GmbH and Bettina Jansen of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

The day ended on an inspiring note with presentations on innovative initiatives to reduce emissions in logistics, driven by promising startups such as CO2OPT GmbH and hey circle GmbH. A summary of the day's highlights was provided by the DVZ editors, offering participants a final opportunity for networking and exchange before parting, enriched by new perspectives and valuable contacts for the future.

Forwardis, as sponsor of the event, was well represented by its three employees, with increased visibility thanks to the presence of its logo and marketing tools (kakemono) throughout the day. The icing on the cake was to receive the day's edition of the DVZ with a Forwardis advertisement in the center, reinforcing the company's presence in the sustainable logistics sector.
