FORWARDIS and Hexafret are joining forces to carry out a special rail transport between La Rochelle, France, and Vienna, Austria.
On behalf of Alstom, the teams are handling the transport of a passenger wagon from the new TGV M, accompanied by one connecting wagon and three brake force wagons, to Vienna for climatic testing. The convoy is being operated in collaboration with Smart Rail Services Limited, with delivery underway at the time of the original announcement.
Transporting a complete TGV M passenger car is far from a standard rail operation. The vehicle's dimensions and specific characteristics require a specially designed train formation and careful coordination between all partners involved.
The additional wagons form part of this dedicated setup, helping ensure that the TGV M passenger car can be transported safely along the entire route.
This project highlights the expertise of FORWARDIS and Hexafret in coordinating complex rail operations and developing tailor-made solutions for transports that go beyond standard requirements.
Through close collaboration with customers, railway partners and technical experts, our teams continue to demonstrate how rail freight can meet demanding transport challenges across Europe.
