At Forwardis, we provide comprehensive fleet management. Our German team, consisting of Marta Locher, Sebastian Hurtado Gutierrez and Mostafa Slimani, focuses on managing rental contracts, organising wagon repairs, cleaning, periodic inspections, and empty runs.
Everything starts with finding a suitable rail wagon for our clients – both for long term and for spot requirements. We know the European wagon market very well and have also as Forwardis Group an existing fleet of over 2.500 wagons.
An important fact: we organise fleet management not only for the wagons provided by us, but also for our customers' fleets. We act as a "flow catalyser" and coordinator between the wagon owner, the railway company, the workshop/mobile repair team and the customer.
If a wagon is damaged, we act quickly to reduce downtime and ensure safety. When we receive a damage report, we notify the customer and the wagon owner and then arrange repairs at certified workshops in consultation with the wagon owner. We aim for speedy repairs and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
Regular inspections are essential for safe and efficient operation. We plan and organise these inspections in consultation with the wagon owner, taking into account the specific needs of each wagon. Tank wagons carrying dangerous goods are inspected every four years. We organise the transport of each wagon to the cleaning station (not automatically at the same location as the inspection itself, as this can save a lot of time) and then to the appropriate workshop for the tests, ensuring a quick and safe return to service.
Another important service provided by the Forwardis fleet management team is the organisation of wagon cleaning. It's required before tank revisions, certain repairs or by cargo changes.
It's important to note that the cleaning does not count as part of the wagon revision time and its location does not have to be agreed/confirmed by the wagon owner. Many large repair workshops that also offer cleaning are often overbooked and you may have to wait a long time for a free slot. We arrange cleaning at the nearest certified station. Our network of cleaning stations across Europe ensures a fast and reliable service.
Transport of empty wagons throughout Europe is another key service we offer. Whether it is new wagons coming from production sites for new hire and first loading, delivery to the workshop for repair or repositioning throughout Europe, we ensure smooth logistics, always trying to find the most optimal route and solution for the customer. In many cases we are able to integrate single empty wagons into our block trains or alternative single wagon network.
At Forwardis, we are dedicated to high-quality fleet and wagon management, prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction. Our expertise and extensive network allow us to meet your needs efficiently and personally, making us your trusted partner.
